Frequently asked questions

May to June are the best time to plan for the Char Dham Yatra. Summer (April to June) - As the snow-covered winter season concludes, the arrival of summer ushers in the peak period for pilgrim visits.

Depending on the content and method of transportation, 12 Jyotirlinga trip packages from Bangalore normally cost between INR 50,000 and INR 1,50,000 per person.

Yamunotri is the first place to visit in Char Dham Yatra. How many days are enough for CharDham Yatra? Approximately 11-12 days are enough to complete the CharDham Yatra.

It is believed that one should complete the Char Dham Yatra in a clockwise direction. Hence, the pilgrimage starts from Yamunotri, proceeds towards Gangotri, onto Kedarnath, and finally ends at Badrinath. The journey can be completed by road or by air (helicopter services are available).

The four places are Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath. This pilgrimage starts from the holy town of Haridwar. The Chardham Yatra Place is one of the holiest Hindu pilgrimages that can be undertaken at any time of the year.

While the journey promises divine blessings, it also presents a stark reality: the lurking threat of high altitude sickness. The consequences of neglecting this silent killer can be devastating, not only for individual pilgrims but also for the region's tourism and emergency response system.

Yamunotri is the first of the four dhams and definitely the toughest. Although, its located at a lower elevations than the other dhams, the narrow and crowded pathway make it challenging and tough to reach the temple.

Pilgrims should avoid meeting elder persons (above 65 years) and minors (below 10 years) during their visit to Shrine. Pregnant ladies, Infants & pilgrims less than 10 years & above 65 years are advised to avoid the char dham yatra.

Being located at high peaks, the temples of Char Dham witnesses a heavy snowfall during the winter season which forces the committee to close the shrines during winter season, making the months from April/May to October/November the only best time to visit Char Dham.

The traditional route for Char Dham Yatra starts from Yamunotri, then moves to Gangotri, followed by Kedarnath, and finally concludes at Badrinath. You can start from either Haridwar or Rishikesh and proceed towards Yamunotri.
