Overview

Ladakh, the “Land of High Passes,” is a spectacular high-altitude cold desert nestled between the Great Himalayas and the Karakoram mountain range.

Its rugged, barren landscape is often described as “Moonland” due to its surreal, unique geological formations and deep, winding valleys carved by the mighty Indus and Zanskar rivers. Major attractions include the stunningly blue Pangong Lake and the challenging motorable passes like Khardung La.

Culturally, Ladakh is profoundly influenced by Tibetan Buddhism, evident in the numerous centuries-old monasteries (gompas) like Hemis and Thiksey, which dot the rugged hillsides. It is a premier destination for adventure sports such as trekking, white-water rafting, and high-altitude biking, drawing travelers seeking both spiritual peace and adrenaline-pumping thrills.
